22 – Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

My Rating: 10/10!

Synopsis:  Caesar, an ape that is part of the test trials for the cure of Alzheimer’s developed high cognitive skills beyond what is initially expected. In an unfortunate turn of events Caesar was held into an ape sanctuary where he was abused, later he sought freedom and led a revolution against the constraints placed by mankind.

This is one badass film! Hanep! And for a change, this catastrophe film was not in any way trigger-happy. The apes were not rabid, crazy, nonsense. They operated like there was some common goal. Kudos to Rupert Wyatt who did not engaged too much on fatalities and only used it once or twice to get the plot to move forward. It all worked, violence was kept to a minimum and it did not feel contrived at all even the spread of the virus at the end.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Excited for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes! The amazing Rupert Wyatt is still attached to direct, and Contagion scribe Scott Z. Burns is in the mix to map the screenplay. This tentpole for Fox is scheduled to arrive May 23, 2014 if all goes according to plan.
