9 – Drive (2011)

My Rating: 9/10

Synopsis:  A driver extraordinaire (Ryan Gosling)  tries to absolute the husband of his star-crossed lover (Carey Mulligan) by getting involved in the husband’s criminal affairs.

It had a vintage suave thing going on. Soft spoken, quiet even demeanor of Ryan Gosling gave it a more edgy feel. This is the first time I saw that caliber of acting from Gosling, actually the characterization of Gosling was very ethereal, haven’t seen anything like it before (does not mean it was the best I’ve seen, it’s just different, haven’t seen it before). The double-life of the enigmatic unnamed Ryan Gosling and the crossing over to the unlikely love story was smart.   The movie  kind of reminded me of American Psycho, maybe because of the scoring, and the soundtrack selection. I have to point out that Christina Hendricks was underused, but aside from her, everybody was fully utilized. Lastly, the scorpion jacket and the brown leather gloves rock!
